Webinar: Women in research in the developing world: Challenges an opportunities

Overview

This webinar will explore the common challenges for women in developing countries pursuing careers in academia and research, with the aim of understanding the current context and opportunities for change.

Only 28% of the world’s researchers are women

Gender barriers and biases prevent the creation and use of knowledge that can enable inclusive, just and sustainable development. To address global challenges, we need an evidence base that reflects both men's and women’s concerns.

INASP recently launched a Gender Mainstreaming in Higher Education toolkit to support universities and institutions in kick-starting discussions about gender mainstreaming and the role of women in academia and in research.

This webinar will explore the common challenges for women in developing countries pursuing careers in academia and research, with the aim of understanding the current context and opportunities for change. We will feature speakers from INASP partner institutions and universities who will share their experiences and lessons learned, as well as experts in gender who will highlight the current state of play globally.
The webinar will end with a Q&A and discussion with all speakers.
